Wear Leveling

SSD controllers use a technique called wear leveling to distribute writes as evenly as possible across all the flash blocks in the SSD.
Wear leveling is a technical process with which an SSD can prolong its longevity. With wear leveling, the Flash controller distributes all P/E cycles evenly to each block, making sure that they reach their P/E threshold at the same time as opposed to prematurely.
